Extendware Product Labels Magento Extension Review
Product labels are extremely popular among ecommerce merchants. With their help, you can easily highlight new products or attract the attention of your store visitors to special deals. As for the Product Labels Magento extension by Extendware, it offers a lot of advanced features. For instance, you can use multiple images per each product or create flexible rules and conditions for labels to be applied. Below, you will find a more detailed description of the module, as well as the Magento extension tutorial dedicated to the backend. Frontend appearance of Product Labels is also illustrated further in this post.
The marketing possibilities of the extension are literally endless. It allows you to mark products as being on clearance, put a “50% OFF” label on top of images, highlight new goods, attract customers’ attention with free shipping, etc. Alternatively, you can use the Extendware Product Labels Magento extension to inform about special product characteristics: “100% Organic”, “Local Brand”, “DIY”, etc. Before we proceed to features, take a look at what others think about the module:

Key Features
- Highlight Special Products. Let your customers know about your offers.It is even possible to set up a minimum discount range for a product to be highlighted.
- Included Images. There is no need to spend time on creating your own labels (but you can), since there are a lot of product label images included in the extension. Leverage CSS to position the image and label and customize their appearance.
- Important Product Information. As mentioned above, you can not only inform visitors about special offers, but also emphasize important product characteristics.
- New Products. Highlight your new products with such labels as “Added 2 days ago” or “New Arrival”.
- Multiple Labels. As we’ve just mentioned, it is possible to use several labels per one product image. At the same time, you can set a limit on the number of ribbons (labels) as well as add or remove them to specific products (if your filter rules are not enough to automate the way the extension works).
- Different Labels For Different Pages. Since product images on catalog and product page are different, it’s a good idea to use different ribbons for each of them. And the Extendware Product Labels Magento plugin enables you to do this.
- Variables. The module lets you use dynamic variables for a ribbon text. It is possible to use any product attribute in the label text as well as the following special variables:
- {{var ew:discount_percent}} – percent discount a product is marked down from its normal price;
- {{var ew:discount_amount}} – actual numeric value of the savings;
- {{var ew:seconds_since_creation}} – number of seconds since the product creation;
- {{var ew:seconds_since_update}} – seconds since the product update.

Both Category and Product Page Ribbon tabs contains the same 4 sections of settings: General Information, Image Information, Style Information, and Advanced Information.
In General Information, you specify Status of the ribbon, its text and position. In Image Information, you choose an image for the ribbon.
In Style Information, specify CSS styles for text, image, container, and inner container. In Advanced Information, you can work with the main page DIV container.
Under the Conditions tab, you make the work of the extension more precise.
Under the Product Overrides tab, you can include / exclude a product despite other conditions.
All ribbon images are available in a grid under Extendware -> Manage Extensions -> Product Ribbons -> Ribbon Images. The grid consists of 9 columns:
- Checkbox (for applying actions in bulk);
