The Extension is no longer available, but you can replace it with one of the following modules:
- Customer Group Catalog by Amasty
- Customer Group Restrictions by AheadWorks
- Customer Group Catalog Permissions by AheadWorks
Thus, you will be able to connect selected customer groups to certain categories creating a customer specific catalog. As a result, all your clients (both B2B and B2C) will see products that are available in corresponding categories. It is also necessary to mention that Ecomwise Category Permissions for Magento 2 and 1 works well with other B2B modules (at least ones developed by Ecomwise).
To configure the extension, you should go to Catalog-> Manage Categories and select a category you want to apply restrictions to. There is a new tab called “Category Permissions”. Here, you can select customer groups linked to the category. As a result, only customers from these groups will be able to see the configured category.
As for the frontend appearance, it should be described on the following example:
The whole category tree includes both Women and Men categories, but on the aforementioned image the first one is hidden? so the customer who don’t have access to it won’t even see the category.
Depending on the amount of customer groups, you can apply a very precise approach to its members, especially if you use Customer Price Rules. This B2B functionality is especially useful in two cases.
First of all, you can hide categories from certain customer groups, because of better conditions or items you don’t want to offer to these particular categories. The precious business information is more safe with Ecomwise Category Permissions.
The second example of usage is related to the situation when you have a lot of categories and business clients who are interested in specific categories only. Thus, you just restrict the access to certain categories for particular customer groups. As a result, your partners get a more user-friendly website with only the necessary products.
Ecomwise Category Permissions for Magento 1 costs only €99. The price of the M2 solution is unknown, but you can already view its page.
