Today, we explore the latest features introduced in Magento 2. Below, you will find the new enhancements introduced in Adobe Commerce 2.4.7-beta1 and Magento Open Source 2.4.7-beta1, which will be a part of the stable 2.4.7 release. While Magento Open Source 2.4.7-beta1 introduces over 140 quality fixes and enhancements, Adobe Commerce 2.4.7 goes even further and includes over 200 improvements. Along with that, both platforms are associated with updated core Composer dependencies and third-party libraries. Support for Composer 2.5 has been added too. Magento Open Source 2.4.7 Release Notes

With over 140 quality fixes and enhancements, Magento Open Source 2.4.7 delivers improvements to the following areas:

Security

13 security fixes and platform security enhancements. Magento Open Source 2.4.7 increases compliance with the most recent best security practices, altering the default behavior of an existing REST endpoint. Platform enhancements

Platform upgrades for Magento Open Source 2.4.7 improve compliance with the latest security best practices, including support for Composer 2.5.x and Varnish cache 7.3. Follow our release notes for Open Source for more platform enhancements.

GraphQL

Magento Open Source 2.4.7 improves GraphQL caching and adds support for customer EAV characteristics to the GraphQL schema:

  • Custom attributes get better support.
  • Improved GraphQL caching speeds up page load time. 
  • CMS page and CMS blocks are the new GraphQL resolver cache types.
  • Improved GraphQL parser performance.

Magento Open Source Extension metapackage

Magento Open Source 2.4.7 includes the Extension metapackage v1.0.0-beta1 with the Payment Services extension. Additional extensions will be added to future editions.

Page Builder

Magento Open Source 2.4.7 is compatible with the latest Page Builder version – v.1.7.4.

PWA Studio

Magento Open Source 2.4.7 is compatible with PWA Studio v.13.2.x along with multiple enhancements and improved accessibility.

Now, let’s focus on the Adobe Commerce 2.4.7-specific improvements. In addition to the features described above, Adobe Commerce introduces a bunch of exclusive enhancements:

Performance and scalability

Adobe Commerce 2.4.7 release introduces significant improvements in the processing speed of save operations for large deployment configurations.

Application Server for GraphQL APIs

In addition to the GraphQL enhancements described above, Adobe Commerce 2.4.7 also includes a new PHP application server based on the Swoole PHP extension. It allows for keeping state across Commerce GraphQL API calls by removing the requirement for bootstrapping. Thus, API requests become more efficient when the application state is shared throughout processes. The enhancement results in API response times reduced by 50 – 60 milliseconds. Adobe Commerce Extension metapackage

The Adobe Commerce Extension metapackage v2.0.0-beta1 is notably reduced in comparison to Magento 2.4.7 Open Source. It includes three extensions: Bolt Quick Checkout, Adobe I/O Events for Adobe Commerce, and Payment Services.

When it comes to B2B, Adobe Commerce 2.4.7 delivers new capabilities and enhancements for B2B negotiable quotes, REST API updates, and multiple bug fixes:

  • Seller-initiated quotes
  • Line item discounts;
  • Notes exchange on a quote;
  • Improved Quote Detail view;
  • REST API updates, etc.
